TERMS
Your work stays yours.
MakerRest gives creators a public home for their profiles, Work, Projects and chosen links. By registering for or using the service, you agree to these Terms and the Community Rules. There is no separate artist contract to sign or fixed membership period for the free service.
You keep your copyright
You retain any copyright and other intellectual property rights you already hold in artwork, photographs, text and other content you upload. Uploading to MakerRest does not transfer ownership to MakerRest, make us a co-owner, or prevent you from displaying, selling or licensing your work elsewhere. You must have the rights and permissions needed to share anything you upload, including work that belongs partly to another person.
The limited licence needed to run MakerRest
While you choose to keep content on MakerRest, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, limited licence to store, copy, host, securely back up, technically process, resize, format, transmit and display that content only as reasonably necessary to operate the service and the features you choose to use. This includes showing your published Passport, Work and Projects, creating thumbnails and previews, making published work accessible through MakerRest discovery and shareable links, and delivering it to visitors who request those pages.
We may allow infrastructure providers working on our behalf to process content only to provide these service functions. This does not give MakerRest or those providers a general right to exploit or independently license your artwork. Technical resizing or format conversion is not permission to make creative alterations, derivative products or commercial adaptations of your work.
What we will not do without separate permission
We will not sell or license your uploaded artwork to third parties, use it in unrelated advertisements or marketing campaigns, put it on merchandise, or use it to train generative AI models without first obtaining your separate, explicit permission for that purpose. Nor will we authorise our service providers to use it for their own unrelated purposes. Simply creating an account or using a future paid feature is not that permission.
Published work is public
Anything you choose to publish may be viewed and shared by visitors, and public pages may be indexed or cached by search engines. Others might take screenshots or download publicly accessible images; we cannot control independent third-party copies. You may pause your Passport from your dashboard, and you may edit or remove Work and Projects through the available creator tools. Pausing is different from deletion: it hides your public Passport while keeping content in your account.
Paid features and changes to rights
MakerRest may offer optional paid features in the future. Charging for features will not transfer copyright, expand the content licence above, or make existing artwork available for new commercial uses. Any paid plan, price and cancellation conditions will be explained before you purchase it.
If we propose a material expansion of how MakerRest may use creators' content, we will explain it clearly and ask for an affirmative agreement before applying those new rights to existing uploads. We will not treat silence as consent to a broader content licence. We may update other service terms with appropriate notice; we will not remove rights you have under applicable law.
Leaving MakerRest and removing work
There is no minimum commitment to keep a free account. You may leave and delete your account using the dashboard. Account deletion removes the account and its associated Passport, uploaded Work, Projects and Vault files from the active service. Once removed from the active service, the content licence above ends except for the limited handling needed to complete deletion, manage existing backups and meet any applicable legal duties. Content retained in backups is not licensed for new public or commercial use.
Some backup copies or narrowly necessary security and legal records may remain for their applicable retention periods, as explained in our Privacy Policy. Removing content does not erase independent copies previously saved by other people or cached by third parties. If you need help with a copyright, data or deletion concern, please contact us.
Your content and community rules
You are responsible for the accuracy, permissions and destinations of anything you publish. MakerRest must not be used to host unlawful, harmful, deceptive, infringing or sexually explicit material. You may link to lawful third-party 18+ platforms that MakerRest supports when clearly marked 18+ and compliant with the law and the destination platform's rules.
An 18+ label describes an external destination only. It does not permit explicit media, descriptions or sexual solicitation to be hosted directly on MakerRest. We may remove content, disable links or suspend accounts when necessary to enforce these rules or address legal or safety risks.
Service stage and questions
MakerRest is an early-stage service and its functionality may evolve. We cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. For questions about these Terms, copyright or account deletion, contact makerrest@gmail.com.
